What is Systema

Systema (Система, literally meaning The System) is a Russian martial art.  Training includes, but is not limited to: hand-to-hand combat, grappling, knife fighting, and firearms training. Training involves drills and sparring without set kata. In Systema, the body has to be free of tensions, filled with endurance, flexibility, effortless movement, and explosive potential; the "spirit" or psychological state has to be calm, free of anger, irritation, fear, self-pity, delusion, and pride.

 

Systema focuses namely 4 major core on breathing, relaxation, fluidity of movement, form.  Also, utilizing an attacker's momentum against him and controlling the six body levers (elbows, neck, knees, waist, ankles, and shoulders) through pressure point application, striking, and weapon applications. 

 

Through relaxation, Systema strike can easily achieve ballistic strike with minimum effort to create deep and heavy punch. Also keeping 4 major core can use natural movement to do joint break, capture skill, takedown, ground movement, mass attack tactics and weapon attack.

 

As a discipline, it is becoming more and more popular among police and security forces and it is taught by several practitioners inside and outside Russia.

 

Apart from military and police force, Systema also emphasis breaking and relaxation that enhance easy and fast learning skill is suitable for participants from all age group no matter, using minimum force for wellness and self defense.

 

As mentioned by founder Mihkail, the major aim to achieve balance in three thing, "To be a good person, an healthy life and combat skill."  Love play important part in Systema training to avoid unnecessary injury and make participates respect life, care for partners and upgrade both spirit and physical aspect.

 

俄羅斯軍事武術,或稱西斯特瑪 (Система, 直譯為系统武術)是一種俄國武術。 訓練中包括多樣性,徒手攻撃,糾纒技術,刀具運用及鎗械運用。 訓練包括不同練習,對搏方法没有特定套路招式。  在西斯特瑪中, 身體需要減除不必要僵緊,保持耐久度,柔軟放鬆,同時具有爆發力;在靈性上或心理狀態上需要保持平穩,無怒意,去煩擾,消恐懼,除自憐,退妄念及自傲。

 

 

西斯特瑪注重1)呼吸 2)放鬆  3)移動能力 4) 間架 所謂的四柱重點。  同時,善於利用對方的力量,借力打力,透過運用穴位,打擊,武器控制來犯者的身體位置如肘,頸,膝,腕,足踝,肩等等。 

 

透過放鬆訓練,西斯特瑪很容易用最少的力量完成彈導攻撃,深入而重的拳力,即穿透力效果。  同時,保持四柱可以運用自然動作,完成關節技,擒拿技,摔技,地上移動,以一對多人策略及武器。

 

作爲武術訓練,不論在俄國境内或境外,它愈來愈廣受警察部門及軍旅保安部門歡迎。

 

除了軍事維安外,西斯特瑪由於主重呼吸,自然輕柔的動作,某些動作易學速成,適合任何年齢男女老小,作為健體防身之用。

 

如創始者Mikhail所言,西斯特瑪的訓練是三様東西的平衡,為了成為一個好人,安康的身心及格鬥的技能。 訓練當中,要時刻有慈愛的心,避免不必要傷害,令訓練者尊重生命,關顧訓練夥伴,共同在身心上提升。

Mikhail Vasilevich Ryabko

  

Colonel of the Special Operations Unit with the Russian Military.

Director and Chief Instructor of Systema Headquarters, Moscow.

 

Mikhail Ryabko was trained from the age of five and involved in combative training from the age of fifteen. He worked in militia in RF Ministry of Interior Security Department, trained the Minister's security guards. He was a tactical commander of hostage-rescue teams, counter-terrorist operations, and armed criminal neutralization.Mikhail resides in Moscow, holds the rank of Colonel and was an assistant to RF General Prosecutor. He is a veteran of military actions and veteran of labor. He has been in numerous military campaigns and holds many medals and awards from the government and from the Russian Orthodox Church. He continues to train many students as the Master Teacher of Systema.

 

Vladimir Vasiliev

 

Director and Chief Instructor of Systema Headquarters, Toronto

 

Born in Tver,  Russia, Vladimir's military work spans across 10 years of extensive service with the Special Operations Unit of Spetsnaz, including regular high-risk covert assignments. He also served as trainer for paratroopers, swat teams, and elite bodyguards.  Vladimir received intense combative training and profound Systema training from Mikhail Ryabko

Vladimir moved to Canada, and in 1993 and was the first to teach Systema outside of Russia. He has since personally trained and certified well over 500 qualified Russian Martial Art Systema instructors and schools in over 30 countries worldwide, and has produced an Award-Winning instructional film collection.

Vladimir holds a number of government medals and awards including the Russian "Order of Duty and Honor" and the "Order of Loyalty". He offers regular training at his school in Toronto, at international seminars and camps and through the Systema video program.
